Club Down Chairman, Ross Carr said:

“This Summer has given us a glimpse of what can be achieved by Down GAA on the field. If we want to build on that we have to get our off the field approach right too and that includes playing infrastructure, as well as financial and other support.

“A dedicated Centre of Excellence will bring huge benefits to all Down squads across football, hurling, camogie and ladies football, from youth and development to senior level, and will put Down GAA firmly back on the map.

“Last night’s move is very welcome and we will seek to bring the same spirit of unanimity in support of this proposal.  Club Down is committed to playing our full role in ensuring this exciting project becomes a reality as quickly as possible for the betterment of Down GAA.”
